In the name of speed and economic growth, we have disturbed everything that is possible to disturb and colonized everything that is possible to colonize. It is time to give the planetary ecosystems a fair chance to recover from human errors.
Saving our common future
When it is too late to stop thinking one-dimensionally, too late to change course, too late to act wisely, is difficult to predict. However, we do know that we have to act differently if we are to save millions of species - including ourselves - from extinction.
Ten years will not heal our planet, but ten years will hopefully be enough time to break the political and economic hegemony of fast society, enough time to establish a slow and reflective mode of thinking in every corner of the world.
On January 1, 2010, the Slow Decade was declared. Our living space is shrinking. Our time is running out. We are still waiting for the Slow Century and the Slow Millennium declarations to be ratified.
